A Simple Daily Routine for Qigong Beginners

When you’re a beginner, it is important to ask: How often and how long should I practice qigong to feel results and get the most benefits? Qigong benefits unfold with consistency. In general, practicing everyday (or as often as you can) helps your body more easily become aware of the internal movement of energy, strengthen the body-mind connection and calm the heart and mind.

How Much Qigong Should Beginners Practice?

A good target as a beginner is to practice 20–45 minutes per day. Choose an easy form or sequence from one of our classes and just practice that everyday, keep it simple. In the early stages there is no need to memorize the movements. Use a recording and follow along so you can enjoy the practice. It is more effective to repeat a sequence/practice and let it “sink in” than to change what you practice often.

Building a Sustainable Qigong Habit

Of course, life happens, no need to treat your practice like a rigid must do. If you miss a day, just return the next day, and aim to enjoy your time with qigong. Just do the best you can. As you continue, you’ll likely notice something encouraging: qigong doesn’t only change how you feel during practice—it changes how you feel for the entire day.

Qigong Should be Enjoyed

Many people find they naturally change their way of thinking from “How do I fit this in?” to “I can’t wait to practice.” Decide when and how long you want to practice and do it regularly, and allow yourself to learn patiently.

If you want the quickest benefits as a beginner, aim for everyday practice of at least 30–45 minutes, and let consistency be your superpower.
