The term ‘qi field’ can sound mysterious when you first hear it. It is as important to gain an awareness of this ethereal concept as it is the physical movements of qigong. To fully embody qigong forms we must understand the underlying theories of energy.
We can begin to demystify the qi field by understanding that qi or universal energy naturally carries information, energy and wisdom. This subtle energy resides around us at all times and in all places. It is available to everyone, any time, whether you’re practicing qigong or going about your daily activities.
Floating in the Ocean of Qi
Imagine the qi field as a vast, primordial ocean of pure energy that flows through and connects all living beings. This ocean of qi contains the fundamental information and characteristics of every entity in the universe. It is non-local, and not limited by time or space. All living beings are connected through the original qi of the universe. Qi and physical matter are always being exchanged and transformed while continually integrating and evolving.
As Nikola Tesla said, “My brain is only a receiver, in the Universe there is a core from which we obtain knowledge, strength and inspiration. I have not penetrated into the secrets of this core, but I know that it exists.”
Awareness and Receiving Universal Information
So, how do we become aware of this field to receive universal information? It’s all about relaxing our bodies and expanding our awareness. We can expand our awareness and connect with the vast blue sky above, below and all around you. Visualize floating in a cosmic ocean of pure energy.
In this state of focused relaxation and expansion, you will enter into the qigong state of receptivity. It is in this state that energetic information arises. It becomes part of your awareness. Paying attention is all that needs to be done.
“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff.” ~ Carl Sagan
We can dive into the cosmic ocean of qi anytime, it is always here. It is a profound source of wisdom and support for all aspects of our lives.
