For thousands of years qigong practitioners and shamanic healers have felt, understood and engaged the universal energy field – the qi field – to support self-healing and healing* of others. They divined methods to initiate transformation and healing through activating conscious intelligence. This awakened a deep connection with universal energy and primordial qi, which was then received and absorbed.
Like the ancient methods, Zhineng Qigong (ZQ) improves physical abilities, develops intelligence and activates consciousness to reach our full human potential. We can activate our self-healing abilities by practicing ZQ. Every practice begins by focusing the mind on scanning and relaxing the body, expanding awareness and connecting with nature (primordial qi, universal qi).
It is in this state of connection to nature that we become aware of and merge with the universal qi field. When we add strong intention, by focusing the mind on a specific purpose such as initiating qi for healing, we call it Qi Field Therapy (QFT). This can be done in a group or for an individual. It is a simple, effective and practical approach to help improve and strengthen vital functions of the human body and for regulating the mind.
How does healing occur in the qi field? This is where the philosophy of oneness comes into play. All living beings are connected through the basic primordial material (qi) of the universe. This primordial qi naturally contains and carries information such as the characteristics, functions and abilities of every entity. Like qi, it is non-local; it is not limited by time or space. This information is able to strongly influence changes that contribute to healing.
Within the qi field, information, energy and physical matter are always exchanging and transforming. Imagine the yin-yang symbol as a three-dimensional, ever changing, revolving, transforming energy orb. Primordial qi is like that, naturally and continually integrating, transforming and evolving toward harmony. This is how healing occurs in the qi field.
Imagine your whole being, including all organs, bones, blood and cells, as a living system that communicates through the qi field. The information that is shared supports self-regulation to maintain health (think of how a small cut heals naturally). In the ZQ view, this activity is the normal way we function. And, if we add strong intention, we can further influence the healing of our physical, psychological and spiritual aspects.
Because we interact with other living beings, we influence each other’s qi, which is what we do in QFT. It is practiced to influence healing in others. It is a catalyst that activates energy and information to support a return to wholeness.
QFT is often done in groups where it is extremely effective. Individual sessions are also deeply supportive to practitioners. A qi field can be created with specific purpose and healing information that will help dissolve blockages and activate self-healing abilities.
QFT strengthens the functions of your internal and external qi field, the flow of qi and blood in all vessels and pathways, and your abilities to transform negative emotions and limiting thought and behavioral patterns. QFT can also improve the effectiveness of any other type of healing modalities and medicine you may use, even surgery.
There are a few different ways of conducting QFT. Teachers often use this simple, 20 – 40 minute, process:
- Create a group circle
- Invite the ‘receiver(s)’ to sit in the center of the circle
- Relax thoroughly and expand your awareness
- Focus on a strong group intention for healing benefit
- Keep relaxing, expanding and focusing on the intention
- Smile inwardly to yourself and to the receiver
- Close the circle
During the session it is of utmost importance to use only the qi of nature, the external primordial qi. Do not send qi or information from your body. You can chant the mantra or visualize the receiver in a radiant state of health. Always use your influence for good and keep your focus general to minimize distraction. Understanding and utilizing the group energy field for healing is one of Dr. Pang’s most profound contributions.
We are privileged to have access to the wisdom from the ancients through Zhineng Qigong. They led the way for our contemporary Qi Field Therapy. As we combine it with our own practice, it will magnify our deep connection with universal energy, support self-healing and accelerate the return to wholeness.
*(Note: ‘healing’ is synonymous with wholeness in this article.)
Powerful communication of Qi! Thank you for that – I can feel it flowing through the energy in your words.
Lali
Thank you for this well articulated information about the chi field, and healing..
Thank you Bitsy, glad it was helpful.
I so look forward to your monthly articles, Martha–almost as much as practicing Qi Gong with you and Leonard and the ohana when you are here in Kona.. With each word and action, you communicate such important information. that has lifelong, enduring benefits. It was very fun to practice the Qi healing together last month, and one could clearly see the deep relaxation, the resetting of experiences into energy available for healing.. I can’t begin to describe or measure the powerful healing effect practicing Qi Gong has in my life. Thank you for this most precious gift–which expands exponentially every day. . I’ll be in touch with and Robin here very soon.
Fondest aloha to you and your family,
Marianne. .
Sorry about my typo–left out “you” at the end. . .And repeated “healing” so many times. Must be because it’s so, well, healing. . .after all!!
Qi blessings!
Marianne
Martha, this is so well stated. Clear and powerful.
Guma, Thank you. I’m glad it is meaningful to you. Best always. HYLT
